Tales de Mileto (Biografías y Vidas, s.f.), es considerado como el primer filósofo occidental del que se tenga registro (Briceño V., s.f.), al ser la primera persona documentada en buscar explicaciones lógicas y no fantásticas a los fenómenos que ocurrían en la naturaleza, como varios de los pensadores de su época, también era matemático, es conocido por el teorema que lleva su nombre (Personajes Históricos, s.f.). No se sabe si nació en Mileto, lo que sí es seguro que gran parte de su vida la pasó en ese lugar, también fue allí el lugar en el que hizo casi todas sus acciones. Al igual que varios de los filósofos antiguos, él no dejó ningún escrito y su pensamiento llega a nosotros a través de los escritos que dejaron sus discípulos o por tradición oral. Uno de los hechos más conocidos de su vida, es la predicción de un eclipse, este fenómeno ocurrió en medio de una batalla y los soldados creyeron que era una señal de los dioses y firmaron un tratado de paz. Tales de Mileto también es conocido por atribuir alma o soplo vital a las cosas con movimiento, como los seres vivos y el agua. Entre los escritos que se atribuyen a su pensamiento se encuentran uno sobre la astrología náutica, otro sobre el equinoccio y el último sobre el solsticio.

Thales of Miletus (Biografías y Vidas, n.d.), is considered as the first Western philosopher of which there is a record (Briceño V., n.d.), being the first documented person to look for logical and not fantastic explanations to the phenomena that occurred in nature, like several of the thinkers of his time, he was also a mathematician, is known for the theorem that uses his name (Personajes Históricos, n.d.). It is not known if he was born in Miletus, it is certain that much of his life was spent in that place, there was also the place where he did almost all his actions. Like several of the ancient philosophers, he left no writing and his thoughts come to us through the writings left by his disciples or by oral tradition. One of the best known facts of his life is the prediction of an eclipse, this phenomenon occurred in the middle of a battle and the soldiers believed it was a sign of the gods and signed a peace treaty. Thales of Miletus is also known for attributing soul or vital breath to things with movement, such as living things and water. Among the writings attributed to his thinking are one about nautical astrology, another about the equinox and the last about solstice.
