About this mysterious island

Es una misteriosa (20 Minutos, 2018; Rolloid, 2018) isla bajo la jurisdicción del gobierno de la India (Revelo, 2015; Excelsior, 2015), está habitada por nativos hostiles que no dejan entrar a nadie, pocas personas (Riaño, 2018) en la historia de la humanidad han logrado un encuentro amistoso con esta tribu, la mayoría de los que intentan acercase son recibidos con una lluvia de flechas, piedras y amenazas de muerte. Esta isla ya era conocida en la época de Marco Polo, el describió a sus habitantes como gente cruel y violenta, también advirtió que cualquiera que se acercara terminaría siendo comido por caníbales (Vasco, 2015). La entrada la Sentinel del Norte está prohibida por el gobierno de la India, esto para proteger a los nativos de enfermedades y a los posibles visitantes de una muerte segura (Perfil, 2018). Entre las veces que se ha visitado la isla sin problemas mayores, se encuentran la exploración a través de helicópteros para el año 2004, esto para conocer el estado de sus habitantes después del tsunami, dicho helicóptero fue llenado de flechas. Algunas personas como John Allan Chau no han tenido tanta suerte, en un primer intento de visitar la isla, tuvo que huir en canoa, en su segundo intento, tuvo que huir a nado con una flecha clavada en la espalda y un tercer intento no sobrevivió para contarlo, falleciendo en 2018 (Resolviendo la incógnita, 2018). De lo poco que se sabe de los sentineleses, es que hablan una lengua desconocida y podrían ser decendientes de los humanos que llegaron hace 60.000 años a esa zona (Pereyra, 2013). Un sobreviviente que estuvo dentro de la Isla fue Maurice Vidal Portman, aunque hizo un estudio antropológico en el siglo XIX, fue culpable del secuestro de varias personas, en una ociación a una mujer y a cuatro niños, y en otra ocación, a una pareja de ancianos y a un niño. Los mantuvieron varios días en la goleta de vela Constance, a la mujer y a uno de los niños los devolvieron a la isla con regalos, luego la pareja de ancianos murió rápidamente y devolvieron a la isla con más regalos a los cuatro niños sobrevivientes. En el siglo XX el antropólogo Trilok Nath Pandit, logró hacer un contacto amistoso con los sentineleses en 1991 (RT, 2018), aunque cuenta que al acercarse a la isla, un joven sentinelés lo amenazaba con un cuchillo, indicando que le cortaría la cabeza (Natarajan, 2018). Otras tribus como los Jarawas, a diferencias de los sentineleces, dejaron de ser hostiles en 1994, pero por culpa de esto, se han hecho safaris humanos y su población ha disminuido, para princopios del siglo XXI, apenas quedan al rededor de 300 personas (Galán, 2010).

Some people like John Allan Chau have not been so lucky, in a first attempt to visit the island, he had to flee by canoe, in his second attempt, he had to swim with an arrow stuck in his back and a third attempt did not survive to tell, dying in 2018 (Resolviendo la incógnita, 2018). The little that is known about sentinelese, is that they speak an unknown language and could be descendants of humans who arrived 60,000 years ago in that area (Pereyra, 2013). A survivor who was inside the Island was Maurice Vidal Portman, although he did an anthropological study in the 19th century, he was guilty of the kidnapping of several people, in a lecture to a woman and four children, and in another occasion, to a couple of Elders and a child. They kept them several days on the sailing schooner Constance, the woman and one of the children were returned to the island with gifts, then the elderly couple died quickly and returned to the island with more gifts to the four surviving children. In the twentieth century the anthropologist Trilok Nath Pandit, managed to make a friendly contact with the sentinelese in 1991 (RT, 2018), although he says that when approaching the island, a young sentinel was threatening him with a knife, indicating that he would cut his head (Natarajan, 2018). Other tribes such as the Jarawas, unlike sentineleces, ceased to be hostile in 1994, but because of this, human safaris have been made and their population has declined, for the early twenty-first century, there are barely around 300 people left (Galán, 2010).
